The cloud is awesome.  Before you stare at me and think that I’m weird, I’m not talking about just any old cloud in the sky.  I’m talking about the cloud that lets you store files, play games, watch movies and more.  In fact, the cloud is really just the internet!

There are 3 main categories for cloud computing.  SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.

The first one, SaaS, is short for “Software as a service”.  An easy example is Google Workspace(Docs, Slides, Forms, etc).

The next one, is PaaS.  PaaS stands for “Platform as a service”.  An example is Microsoft Azure.  Platform as a service includes many development tools, such as business intelligence(BI), database management and more.  PaaS is designed for testing, creating and developing applications.

And finally, there is IaaS. IaaS is basically a huge bunch of servers, storage, network firewalls, and more.

How does Cloud computing work?

Think of cloud computing like a mirror.  There are two sides.  One side, where the client or user is, and the other, where the cloud is.  The cloud is made up of various computers, servers, storages and more.

How does cloud gaming work?

Cloud gaming works similarly to cloud computing.  The games are stored and played on the provider’s hardware remotely, and the gameplay is streamed to your device.  When you execute an input, it is sent back through the server and is executed in game.  Cloud gaming is very convenient, for users that don’t own expensive consoles or computers, but still want to play the newest games.

That’s it for this week, hope you guys get a chance to try out cloud computing and see you guys later!
